There has always been something wonderful and almost magical to me about walking into a MAC Pro store or counter. The way the lipsticks and eyeshadows are neatly arranged in brightly colored rows like candies–the urban yet sophisticated look of the artists all clad in black with beautifully painted faces. Call me crazy or obsessed even, but I don’t think I will ever stop getting that extraordinary thrill from stepping into that unique and marvelous world.

The feeling of stepping into my own Narnia is only made better by the fact that the actual products being sold are all of amazing quality. I love that MAC focuses on providing so many different finishes, variations, and shades of each product. They cater to so many unique personalities. While there are definitely stand out product lines and a few duds here and there along the way, I am regularly pleased with my purchases. The 6 products I swear by all boast exceptional pigmentation, blendability, coverage, longevity and comfort. If I was limited to choosing only a few products to recommend to a first-time MAC user (sounds like a drug addiction right? :p) these 6 would be the first I would dash to pull from the shelves.

The Must-Have Products:

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural– A mineral powder that not only beautifully sets your makeup, but also provides a touch of extra coverage. I even notice that it makes my pores appear much smaller and the face looks like a perfect china doll after each application. I use a shade that matches my skin-tone called “Light Plus”.
MAC blushes– Whether it’s their mineralize blushes, pro blushes, or cream blushes, I’m hooked. They all blend gorgeously and give the cheeks a stunning skin-like sheen. They have shades in enough colors of the rainbow for a leprechaun to become giddy. This summer, I have been loving their mineralize blush in the shade “Dainty” for a lovely coral sheen on the cheeks.
MAC pressed pigments– These pack all the power of a loose pigment but in a convenient, no-fuss pressed form. The sheen and brilliance of these is like no other and this is truly a unique product. I love the versatility of their use most of all. Pack it on dry for high shine or apply wet and get a completely different, intense wet metallic look. I am currently obsessed with the color “Deeply Dashing”. It’s a mid -toned brown with stunning silver and bronze flecks of glitter.
MAC paintpots– I love to use these as a primer/base before applying eyeshadows. They lock in your eye makeup for all day or all night wear, prevent creasing and actually intensify the look of the shadow for more vivid color. These also double as great long-wearing cream shadows as well and cover any veins or redness. My favorite paint pot in “Painterly” is flesh-toned so it pairs wonderfully with any color you place on top.
MAC lipsticks– Where do I even begin? So many colors. So many finishes. They offer something for everyone whether you want vibrant matte lips or just a sheer wash of creamy color. I have so many of these and have basically started a collection because I am just always so impressed. The color “Fanfare” is a great pinky-rose coral color for the summer.
MAC Prolongwear Concealers– A recent holy grail MAC product that I bought because… Youtube made me ok?!? Everyone and their mom raves about this concealer and now I know why. Nothing can really sum up the majestical nature of this product except the word perfect. Covers dark circles and even the nastiest pimples like a dream, sits comfortably on the face and doesn’t look cakey or overdone despite its thick consistency. I wear one that is two shades lighter than my skin tone (NW20) to give my under eyes a bright, awake appearance.

  • Ive only tried MAC’s Creme Cup Lipstick, but I’m thinking to treating myself to some eyeshadows and an empty palette for Christmas this year. I’ve wanted to try so many things but I find them so expensive for my low budget!
